SUMMARY:Day of Friendship at Castle Cove Public School
DESCRIPTION:URSTRONG’s Day of Friendship includes a variety of student workshops where students will learn the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a great friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to assess healthy versus unhealthy friendships. We will also discuss the importance of standing up for yourself and how to put out Friendship Fires® through an open\, honest conversation. These workshops include a handout with an overview of the key concepts to share with parents. \nFuzzies and Friends (Years 1 & 2) \nThrough fun role-play with teddy bears\, children learn the basics of friendship including the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a GREAT friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships. We also practice\, step-by-step\, how to put out Friendship Fires™ by putting a voice to our feelings. \nHeart of Friendship (Years 3 & 4) \nThrough fun role-play with teddy bears\, children learn the basics of friendship including the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a GREAT friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships. We also practice\, step-by-step\, how to put out Friendship Fires™ by putting a voice to our feelings and how to stand up to Mean-on-Purpose behavior using a Quick Comeback. \nFriendship Fires (Years 5 & 6) \nIn this workshop\, students learn what’s normal in a friendship\, the importance of trust & respect\, and how to use the Friend- o-meter to assess healthy versus unhealthy friendships. They learn the importance of standing up for themselves\, how to put out those common Friendship Fires™\, and how to deal with Mean-on-Purpose behavior using a Quick Comeback. We also discuss their digital world and some tips for keeping friendships healthy online. \nFriendship Tips for Teens (Year 7) \nIn this workshop\, students learn URSTRONG’s friendship framework and how it applies to both the real world and their online world. They learn what’s normal in a friendship\, the importance of trust & respect\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to assess healthy versus unhealthy friendships. Students learn a simple strategy to put out Friendship Fires™ and how to deal with Mean-on-Purpose behavior. We also discuss friendship groups & cliques\, ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts)\, negativity bias\, and peer pressure.

DESCRIPTION:Through interactive parent-child activities\, parents will learn language & strategies to support their child to create healthy\, feel-good friendships. This session will review concepts taught at URSTRONG Schools through our Friendology 101 curriculum to reinforce a common “language of friendship” including: \n\nThe 4 Friendship Facts\nThe Friend-o-Meter\nThe Friend-o-Cycle\nFriendship Fires vs Mean-on-Purpose\n\nParents will also learn how to access a FREE course that includes 10 videos + activities to support your child in their friendships. You will learn how to unlock hundreds of activities\, videos\, and articles that are available to you and your child! \nThis session is for ALL AGES! Dana will be addressing how friendships change & evolve from the younger ages into teenhood and providing strategies for all ages. She will explain how the strategies even apply to adults and how she uses the tools in her own life. \nYounger children are invited to bring along a soft toy for role-playing activities and there will be an opportunity to ask Dana questions at the end of the session! \nImportant Notes:  \n\nThis event is open to the public! \nYou only need to purchase one ticket per family.\nIt will take place live on Thursday 11 November at 6pm (Sydney/Melbourne) via Zoom.
