SUMMARY:Day of Friendship at Sunshine Coast Grammar School
DESCRIPTION:URSTRONG’s Day of Friendship includes a variety of student workshops where students will learn the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a great friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to assess healthy versus unhealthy friendships. We will also discuss the importance of standing up for yourself and how to put out Friendship Fires® through an open\, honest conversation. These workshops include a handout with an overview of the key concepts to share with parents. \nFuzzies and Friends (Years 1 & 2) \nThrough fun role-play with teddy bears\, children learn the basics of friendship including the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a GREAT friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships. We also practice\, step-by-step\, how to put out Friendship Fires™ by putting a voice to our feelings. \nHeart of Friendship (Years 3 & 4) \nThrough fun role-play with teddy bears\, children learn the basics of friendship including the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a GREAT friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships. We also practice\, step-by-step\, how to put out Friendship Fires™ by putting a voice to our feelings and how to stand up to Mean-on-Purpose behavior using a Quick Comeback. \nFriendship Fires (Years 5 & 6) \nIn this workshop\, students learn what’s normal in a friendship\, the importance of trust & respect\, and how to use the Friend- o-meter to assess healthy versus unhealthy friendships. Students learn a simple strategy to put out Friendship Fires™ and how to deal with Mean-on-Purpose behavior. We also discuss friendship groups & cliques\, ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts)\, negativity bias\, and peer pressure.

SUMMARY:Friendology 101: Educator Training & Professional Development
DESCRIPTION:Educators from URSTRONG Schools are invited to attend this professional learning course to get training in URSTRONG’s award-winning curriculum\, Friendology 101\, directly from our Founder\, Dana Kerford. \nDana will share how URSTRONG is enhancing the social-emotional wellbeing of children through friendship skills. Educators will learn URSTRONG’s language\, skills\, and strategies along with the research supporting SEL (social-emotional learning) and evidence behind URSTRONG’s impact in schools globally. \nThe first live class will take place on Monday 25 October from 4.00pm to 5.30pm (AEDT\, Sydney/Melbourne). Video sessions along with follow-up activities will be assigned that focus on the following topics: \n\nThe Science of Friendships – exploring the science behind social-emotional wellbeing and why friendship skills must be prioritized in schools.\nThe Language of Friendship – a detailed overview of URSTRONG’s core concepts\, including the language and skills that are central to our whole-school friendship strategy.\nFriendology 101 – showing educators how to utilise our curriculum\, Friendology 101\, as a school-wide friendship framework.
