SUMMARY:Day of Friendship at Balgowlah North Public School
DESCRIPTION:URSTRONG’s Day of Friendship includes a variety of student workshops where students will learn the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a great friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to assess healthy versus unhealthy friendships. We will also discuss the importance of standing up for yourself and how to put out Friendship Fires® through an open\, honest conversation. These workshops include a handout with an overview of the key concepts to share with parents. \nFuzzies and Friends (Years 1 & 2) \nThrough fun role-play with teddy bears\, children learn the basics of friendship including the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a GREAT friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships. We also practice\, step-by-step\, how to put out Friendship Fires™ by putting a voice to our feelings. \nHeart of Friendship (Years 3 & 4) \nThrough fun role-play with teddy bears\, children learn the basics of friendship including the 4 Friendship Facts\, qualities of a GREAT friend\, and how to use the Friend-o-meter to understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships. This revised training model reflects the feedback of training participants and better suits the needs of the 40+ educators already registered for this event. \nEducators are invited to attend this four week professional learning course to become a certified instructor of the leading social-emotional development program\, Friendology 101\, directly from our Founder\, Dana Kerford. \nDana will share how URSTRONG is enhancing the social-emotional wellbeing of children through friendship skills. Educators will learn URSTRONG’s language\, skills\, and strategies along with the research supporting SEL (social-emotional learning) and evidence behind URSTRONG’s impact in schools globally. \nClasses will take place weekly on Mondays from 4.00pm to 5.30pm (AEDT\, Sydney/Melbourne) starting on 24 May 2021. Recordings will be available after the sessions for participants who aren’t able to attend a live class.
